So, I'll be heading to the 10KLF alone. Heck - I'm not even going to know anyone once I get there! I'm expecting it's going to be an adventure, but I was wondering...
Anyone else ever go to festivals alone? Any tips?
Thanks!

I'm a pansy when it comes to doing stuff like that alone, haha. So I guess I don't really have any good tips.. You can meet up with any of us there so at least you'll kind of know some people though! Plus, the people you camp next to will most likely be awesome too!

Good for you! It's wicked easy to meet people. Most are really friendly and I don't see you having any problems chatting it up. If the board gets a meet up place that would be the easiest way to start. Maybe for you we should do the meet up early on Wed. so you have some friends early on!

Good idea! I think we should make a meeting spot in the campgrounds and then one in the concert bowl. I think this may call for making a poll or something on the meeting place thread sometime soon!

I am most likely 'Going it Alone' too. I just can't seem to talk any of my friends into going. They either don't have the money, or the music isn't really their thing. I guess I still have 128 days to convince them otherwise. Alone or not...I can't wait!!!

Well, if this board is any indication, I think I'll meet a lot of friendly people and not worry a bit! (Sugarmagnolia, I'm a huge pansy as well, but I have been trying not to let that stop me from having fun!) I think it'd be fun to to coordinate a meeting and put a few (screen)names to faces.
I'm still nervous about a few of the minor details - what happens if a drunk guy decides to sleep in my tent at 3am? *laugh* But I worry about way too much anyway. Thanks for the happy thoughts!

You definitely need to make friends with your neighbors even if your not alone. This way everyone watches out for everyone around them and their stuff. Don't worry, I'm sure people on the board will watch out for you!

You're welcome to come hang with us quietdelusions...it's just me and my friend...to be honest I'm a little nervous about it just being the two of us girls alone...so I totally admire your courage! I have always felt pretty safe at fests though...people are nice and this one seems small enough that it will be easier to meet people!

Its too early to tell yet, but I may be on my own this time, my roommate is on the main stage crew so I won't be totally alone lol. 10k starts on my birthday so I'm trying to get a party to come with me for 4 days! And yeah for the most part its a really friendly atmosphere and it makes me really dislike coming back to St. Cloud. haha

I don't mind going alone as I know I always end up making a few frndships fast! in fact there is a slight chance to go solo this yr too. Don't worry u gonna meet nice ppl in there

Good to hear that the goin' it alone theme isn't unusual. I just couldn't pass up this lineup despite the fact that friends weren't interested in three days of "roughing it" (I'm in my 30's and they're all getting soft with age). The Widespread Panic crowd is usually ridiculously friendly. It's all about enjoying the fest. Can't wait.

I am so happy I found this board. I was so nervous about going alone.. i even contemplated taking my 12 year old son with me! hehe.. I *THINK* I might've talked my best friend into going, but I won't know for sure until days before the fest. I'm in Eau Claire wisconsin and have quite a drive ahead of me... maybe I can find someone to carpool with as it draws nearer. I'm also 35(but i usually pass for 25) so I might feel quite like a geezer amoungst the crowd, but we'll see... I just can't wait!!

^ Welcome! No need to worry about feeling like a geezer, lots of people between 30 and 50 go. I know of at least 3 groups, and I'll have a 30 something in my group too (haha, I can't remember his exact age right now). Age is just a number anyway, hehe. Hopefully your friend will end up going with. I'd gladly carpool with you cause I'm coming from GB but we already have 4 people so there wouldn't be enough room. I'm sure you'll be able find some people pretty easily if you need to though!
