Yes i havent seen a thread for people who are trying to carpool or find a ride. So hear one is! I myself live in mississippi and am looking for a ride out of the south to 10kl. I will be glad to throw in on gas money, drive time if needed and money toward the vehicle pass. I can meet anyone in the following states Alabama, Mississippi, Louisanna and Tennesse to catch the ride up! Also i have a friend who is in the same situation so if you have room for 2 that would be great! look forward to seein you all in July! Happy Panic and keep it Family

I'd be willing to share my limited car space with someone, from Duluth to Detroit Lakes, if needed. (I could probably only fit one other person in my tiny car, and I'd want to meet beforehand to make sure we wouldn't drive each other crazy. Otherwise the company would be welcome!)

Hi! I am bringing my 4 year old daughter to her very first festival! She is a shining light to be around and has a very advanced vocabulary for her age. She can and will talk to you about anything! She loves road trips, music, dancing and camping so I think it's time and she will love this! She already loves the Dave Mathews Band and can identify them, the beatles and david bowie (whom she calls the Goblin King) whenever they come on.
We'll be driving in from Milwaukee on Tuesday, 7/21 and staying at the Americas Best Value Inn. We get free bowling with the room and in true Mil-town fashion we'll be taking them up on that! Then we'll head to Soo Pass first thing to get there at 10am when gates open on Wednesday.
Here's my issue: I want to to stay as late as possible at the concerts and she'll only be able to make it until 10 MAYBE 11pm. I need someone from Milwaukee, Madison or Chicago (or in the vicinity) to ride with us and stay at our site who would be willing to take her back to the site when she's ready and stay with her until I get back. That's where your duty starts and ends. In all other ways she's my responsibility.
The offer: I will pay for half your camping and music tickets (all four days - GA only) and you can ride with us (if you drive - you pay your car fee) - gas money would be nifty but not necessary - and I've already paid for the hotel night. All food consumed on the road or hotel night is all you - I will have a cooler with food for the show. You must live close enough to come to Milwaukee to meet us a few times before we make an agreement and meet us somewhere between Milwaukee and Detroit Lakes if you're riding with us. If it's not too too far off course I can come get you. I will be running background checks on anyone interested so no chester-molesters or felons please.
I have no male or female preferences - only that you're cool. I am a single mom but have no interest in dating/hookups or any of that. It's all about the music!

No offense, but I think you need to have your head examined!

Man, I know this forum is a very positive one, and I love that... however, I'm going to have to agree with the person who commented on this before me.. wow. I want to let you know that not all child molesters have been caught, so doing a background check is a moot point. I am begging you to please find a trusted friend or relative to care for your daughter at home. I am saddened that you would even consider leaving your daughter with someone you've only met a few times, and on the internet at that. I know that most of the people who attend this type of festival are good people, but you are posting this foolish "want ad" on the internet, where predators lurk. I love all children, and feel for all children who have neglectful parents. I myself have 2 children.. one is 6 and the other is soon to be 13. I am also a single mother. I know how trying it can be when you'd like to do things as an adult, but are unable to because of your motherly duties.. but you chose to bring this child into the world.. sacrifices need to be made to ensure the safety and well being of your child. If you need to bring her, then YOU need to take care of her, and if in doing so you need to turn in early, then so be it. Sorry this is so long, but I feel empathy for any child left in the hands of a stranger. Of course she has a good vocabulary and can talk about anything.. she has probably had to adapt to many different environments, by the sound of it.. it is her survival mechanism. Ok, I need to quit.. I hope for the best for you and your precious daughter. Please think twice before bringing her.

I am going to agree with these guys. You would seriously leave your child with a stranger? Unbelievable! When we bring our daughter to festivals, we do so knowing that we will not be able to catch any late nighters. I wish you good luck, but you need to just get someone that you know to tag along or plan on getting to bed early IMHO. I have seen copies of your post on other message boards already, so the possibility of bad guys seeing it is even greater. Be careful!

I have to agree with the others as well. Although it may sound like an okay idea to try to find someone you could trust on festie message boards.. someone that lives close to you and you could meet first and everything like you said - even if you did a background check.. it just isn't a good idea at all.
What if you met a really cool person and everything seemed perfect.. Then while you were at the saloon stage for a late night show, that person who is supposed to be watching your daughter takes some crazy drugs or leaves your child all alone or something even worse like they are a molester or a killer? I know kids can be super smart and everyone hanging around in a fest is usually very nice but crazy shit can happen. A girl died last year, no one killed her or anything but you get the point. Its just not worth the risk, you know? Like the others said - find a good friend or family member to take with (what about someone who already babysits her?) maybe you guys can split up going to the late night shows or just skip the late night shows and hang out at a campfire next to your tent - or just leave her at home.
We are all looking out for you two and no one wants to see or hear of something bad happening! Good luck!!

I so wish I could help you out with a ride! Everyone seems to be comming from the west or east coast, Minneapolis, Wisconsin and Michigan.. I haven't seen many people say they are comming up from the south much.. Maybe try going to the Inforoo board and post in the 10klf thread there? I know its not very active but maybe someone who lives down that way and is going to 10k will see it and be able to help you out!

I'm in Pittsburgh looking for a ride. Anyone driving from, thru, or anywhere near Pittsburgh? I'll gladly help pay for gas & vehicle pass. I've never been to 10k lakes, but it sounds like an amazing time.
