I'm another first timer likely making the trip solo (I've got plenty of friends who love WSP, just not any that are willing to drive for 9 hours and camp for three days to see them). But with the crowd at 10KLF I assume solitude won't be an issue. I'm torn between Northwoods and VIP for camping. Not too much info on VIP. Does that mean if I choose VIP I'll be missing out on the ultimate 10KLF experience? I can't wait for the trip and "Another Joyous Occasion" but I want to be well prepared. Any help would be appreciated. Excellent message board by the way.

Going for the first time and will be in VIP. Figure you can always go to other campgrounds to party if need be! I will be making very merry in my relaxing VIP campsite!

Oh, and you will have a 2 peeps in VIP that are driving 2 days (plus 2 days back!) and camping 4 days for WSP!

Kudos for the dedication. It should be worth the trip. VIP might be the way to go then...even if only for the easy access to the stage area and better viewing of JB and the gang. Thanks for the help.

We are basically just paying for the food and the VIP tent. There doesn't seem to be as many "perks" as other festivals because everyone gets warm showers and real bathrooms! I would pay VIP prices just for that, and did at Bonnaroo. Sorry, I'm just too old to be roughing it any more than I really have to! I think if you stay in a hotel every night and drive in every day, you would miss the festival feel but not camping in a closer spot or having other people make your food for you!

sprunkn7...you are my muse. I skew a little older as well (late 30's) and wanted to make sure that I'm not out of my element. I'll buy you and yours a beer when I get there. I'm basically headed to the fest on a whim and couldn't be more thrilled about it. Another Joyous Occasion indeed.

For the record, y'all hush about being old. Much prefer people your age, to those crazy teenagers! (No comments about my age - I'm stuck right in the middle.)

Much appreciated. As long as I don't feel old...I'm good. Plenty of more WSP shows in my future...at least I'm hopin' there are. The two at 10KLF should rank among the best (although Red Rocks was pretty damn cool).

Hey there! Two of my friends and I will be camping in VIP (We're not old by the way). You all are welcome to chill with us whenever you like! We're driving from California.

Sweet. I will definitely look you up. California? That's some dedication. But I'm sure it will be well worth the trip. Say "hi" to my home state of Nebraska if you head that way. Not a thrilling place to drive through, but the people are friendly enough.

Hey there! We are camping in VIP too...driving from Chicago...and not teenagers! (not that I mind them, lol) This will be our first 10klf and also couldn't find anyone else willing to drive/camp. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Not too bad of a drive from Chicago. I made a trip to Fargo (for a wedding that was an absolute blast) from Milwaukee and it's definitely tolerable. I'm breaking it up between Green Bay (a friend's wedding on Saturday), Minneapolis (staying with friends Sunday and Monday) and Detroit Lakes (got a room Tuesday night so I'm rested and ready to go for WSP on Wednesday). I have been brimming with excitement since I entered my credit card number to buy the damn tickets. See you there.
