...could you please let me pick your brain for a minute? As a 10KLF virgin, I have some specific questions for anyone that has been there and done that. What's the traffic like coming from Fargo? If we left Fargo in the afternoon , say around 1-2 pm, would we hosed on a decent spot for our camp? What time have bands started playing on the first day? How bad are the mosquitoes, biting flies, ect. there? How strict are they about glass containers? (Last year at Langerado, some f >:(ing security clown actually confiscated a jar of strawberry jam from the fridge in the RV.!! Like I was gonna need it outside of the galley? ) Any insight would be greatly appreciated! The soon-to-be-deflowered Ted

Bands start playing at 6pm on the first day.
The bugs aren't that bad, but bring bug spray just in case they bother you.
They say no glass bottles or containers of any kind are allowed and it all depends on who is searching you - use your best judgement here.

I think if you want to get a good camp spot you for sure need to get there in the morning. I'd say around 6 or 7am at least... they say the campgrounds open at 10am but they usually open earlier at around 8 because of all the people.

I have to say they are strict about glass every where. Just put stuff in plastic no matter what it is. They are very specific about it and it's a pretty easy rule to follow.

The drive from fargo is easy! There is not much traffic at all, just get on Hwy 10 and bam ur there in like 45mins. Make sure you look at where your campsite is because they dont allow left hand turns to get into your campsite. So you need to be going the right way down the road that runs along your campsite. Depending on what campsite your staying at it might be easier for you to take the interstate from fargo to Barnesville and then get on hwy 34/59 and go that route like i said it all depends

Dude, you'll definitely want to be there before 1 or 2. especially with an RV. In my opinion, you should get in line with that thing by at least 4 or 5 am. I always come there from the fargo direction, and it's like the easiest drive ever. Highway 10 the whole way and hang a right at the perkins in DL.

How is the police presence on the drive in the area? Last year in TN you couldn't go a mile without Staties and locals on the roads and highways. We saw so many poor souls with their camping gear out on the side of the road getting a car search.
Knowing the laws and keeping to the speed limit is how we made it through that nightmare. I know they do a quick car search on the way in, but how are the traveling roads?

I didn't have a problem at all last year or know anyone who has had a problem. I agree, if you stick to the speed limit and don't do anything stupid, you'll be fine!

Driving there wont be an issue with the Police just follow the speed they watch that pretty close. Now with that being said after 10k starts they turn into, hmm how can I put this.... but they are just trying to protect us from drunk drivers. So if you leave the Soo Pass make sure you have a DD cause even the slightest wrong move will get you pulled over and once they have you pulled over its pretty easy for them to get cause to search... Now one thing that I am not sure of is how they act while your in-line on the side of the road since ive never camped there before.

So don't do anything stupid. I think I can handle that! Don't plan on leaving for anything but if we do I will be a non- drunkard in a cab ;D

Thanks to all for the input. Please keep it coming. The more viewpoints the better.
Hopefully the fact that we reserved a power hookup will benefit us on campsite choices due to our mid-pm arrival. No matter what, we will make the best of it and look forward to great tunes, making new friends, and leaving reality behind for a few days.

Indeed, it'll be so nice to escape the real world for 4 days with a community of very awesome people! I'm sure that whatever camp spot you end up with, it will be great! Because a big perk of 10k is there really isn't any bad camping spots there... unless you're in Blue Ox/Viking under the super hot sun in a tent, lol. But that's just my opinion, hehe.

Yes! Nuts are a top priority!!! Just kidding. They are searching for glass bottles, kegs, beer bongs, fireworks, knives and guns, crack... stuff like that.
