I haven't seen anyone searched by the cops once they got in line to get in the venue. I would agree on getting there early if you want a great spot. We get there later and usually get a good location, but tends to be on a hill. The 10K searchers are really looking for glass and they are pretty strict about it.
I've only ever seen bugs down by the lake, i can't remember seeing any in the campgrounds.

I have had the state boys walk past my truck several times while in line on the highway. They are just walking by and keeping an eye on things, so I guess if you are dumb enough....... We always smile and thank them for their help at the festival, be happy people!!!!

Haha, I just said that because they have this under rules and regulations in the 10klf booklet we got last year:
5. The following items are not allowed in campgrounds: step vans or moving vans without windows, beer in kegs, beer bongs, weapons, fireworks, and glass containers.
I don't really think they would take someone's beer bong.. my friends had one and they were just fine.

haha ok, I was gonna say I had put beer bong on my list of shit and didnt want it to get taken from me when they searched my car....I have a few more questions for the 10k vets.
I'm campin northwoods, how early do I need to be there I read someone say 4-5am and someone else said 6-7am. I live a little less than 4 hours south, in the twin cities. Originally my friends wanted to leave by 6am and get up there by 10am, but after reading this thread I'm thinking that might be too late. How bad is it if we get there around 10-11am, would we be screwed for finding 2 spots next to each other?
I'm one of the people drivin so I would not mind leaving as early as necessary, especially if it means less hassle once we get to 10k. Plus then I can take a nap until later in the day, while everyone else is getting settled...sounds better than getting their late and waiting in line for hours to setup your campsite and then have to be tired for the rest of the day/night.
Also, I know there's the no left-turn rule, so if I'm coming from the south to Northwoods i'm guessin I can just go north on 59/34 to turn right into that little street after the concert bowl, does this sound right, or would you want to come the other way on Hwy 22 so you turn left onto the little street and then turn right into the northwoods? I guess I'm confused as to where the actual northwoods entrance is and I've been studying all kinds of maps for the past hour, and i'm pretty sure there's still a 50/50 chance we get lost

You don't want to get there at 10am unless you want to take a chance at getting a crap spot, haha. I think you'd probably be able to still camp 2 spots next to eachother though. I personally want a spot at the very back of our campground, deep in the woods so I am going to get there between 5 and 8am. Haven't decided on a specific time yet.. I don't have to drive so I guess that'll be up to everyone else...
If you are coming from the cities (I will be too! ..well we're in Green Bay but stopping in the cities for a few hours to see my sister), you will be going there in the right direction on 59 to take a right turn into Northwoods. It is the driveway right where you see the Soo Pass Ranch sign on the right. We'll have to go up the road and turn around to be going the right direction for Lake Sallie, haha.

So it was decided that we're getting there between 5 and 6am. Because well... they always open the gates 2 hours early to let people in and we want top pick of spots like I said, haha.
I have no idea about good spots in Northwoods cause I have never been in there. I'll ask one of my friends though, that's where he always camps.
